What did I know and what did I think about this topic before class? What am I curious about and would like to know about this topic?
I really didn’t know much about what UDL meant and different types of accessibility used within a classroom before we discussed this topic class. I want to learn more about UDL throughout this class because it is a very important topic for becoming a teacher. Everyone should be able to learn at ease so being adaptable as a teacher for your students is very important for their success.
What did I learn through my preparation for class?
I looked up what UDL meant through google as well as the links provided on the moodle site and got a good grasp of what it really means through the videos on the moodle links. Within this link: http://www.udlcenter.org/resource_library/videos/udlcenter/guidelines they go in depth on how important it is to focus on how different every student is and that there is no such thing as the “typical illusory average student”. It’s important to be aware of that before becoming a teacher because each student is so different.
Additional resources that I found on this topic http://www.udlcenter.org/resource_library/videos
This link above basically talks about the different guidelines regarding UDL and the importance of them. For example: they changed the general term from “student” to “learner” because they needed to change from a K-12 emphasis to a more persistent term.

This second link is a blog from a teacher that has been in the field for over 30 years. She discusses what it’s like in her classroom and how she uses UDL everyday. Its nice reading what its like from a teacher herself.
What did I learn in class this week on this topic? How did my understanding and thinking about the topic change through this process?
From the class discussion, reading articles, and watching videos on this topic I feel a lot more informed on such an important topic that is focused in so much depth in the classroom. I learned what UDL actually meant as well as how it is implemented with all different kinds of students.
